Jalal Ad-Din Muhammad Rumi was a 13th century Persian poet, intellectual, a scholar, a Mawlana. Shams of Tabriz was a wandering dervish, teacher, friend and liberator of the great Rumi. What business did they have together? Why did their paths collide and how did two souls from completely different worlds become one? Albeit the world stood against them and they were green eyed about their friendship even death couldn’t do them apart and their souls danced together until eternity. Shams liberated Rumi and their love was unconditional and infinite. The infinity symbol in the painting represents their relationship, which has no end. Rumi, written on the bottom left represents the seeking student who had the world at his feet but only the wandering dervish could liberate him. And ‘Shams’ on the top right hand represents how Shams fulfils his destiny by enlightening the already illuminated Rumi. Even after Shams is brutally murdered, his soul remains with Rumi and they dance into eternal bliss.

The white concentric rings represent pure euphoria that stems from unconditional love. The blue vertical drops represent solace for when the souls find their destination there is no room for conflict nor chaos. This painting tells the tale of Rumi and Shams, the story of defying the world and conquering it with true love, the story of magic two souls created when they waltzed into utopia through the limitations of this universe and into the cosmic realm.
